Questionhow did you get through the 1st semester of bio thats required to go to med school? O_O cause im overwhelmed Answer

STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY

Well not that much.

First semester is alllll about learning your how to organize your life in ways that will earn you the grades that you want. You’re eased into it during the first few weeks, but you really need to figure out a studying schedule that will help you get the grades you want.

If you’re not understanding the material than implore you to get tutoring. There’s no shame in getting help for concepts you don’t understand. These classes aren’t supposed to be easy, so don’t feel embarrassed to ask for help.

Also, and I’m not sure how relevant this is to you: but limit the amount of partying you do. I don’t know if I’m going to get flak for this or not, but going out and having fun is great and all, but if you’re going to frat parties 5 days out of the week then it’s going to seriously affect your studying habits. A lot of people party a lot during their freshman year, hell even I did. But, you need to know where you’re limits are and know when partying is going to adversely affect your grades

QuestionIf you had to play music during a code, what song would you play? Answer

Well music at codes would probably be distracting buttt either:

Stayin’ Alive- Bee Gees (As I’m sure everyone else would listen to)

OR

QuestionFor your 40yo woman. I have had 2 similar patient's. One was in alcoholic ketoacidosis, and the other was a new onset seizure with acidosis due to the seizure. Were those some differentials? Answer

We looked at the possibility of a seizure, but she wasn’t postictal at all and was AxO immediately after. Althoughhhh that could be a reason.

QuestionSince you don't want to tell us exactly what you do, can you give examples of jobs other than the ones commonly recognized, like nurse and doctors, (you can leave yours out if it makes you too uncomfortable to mention it, I'm not trying to out you, just genuinely curious about how everything works) that go into helping an ER run smoothly? Answer

Here’s a few:

  • Nurses
  • Doctors
  • Unit Clerks
  • Floor Techs
  • Registration clerks
  • Security! (AN ER CANNOT FUNCTION WITHOUT SECURITY)
  • Environmental techs
  • Nurse managers
  • social workers
  • mental health professionals
  • respiratory techs
  • lab techs
  • radiology techs in their multiple forms (X-ray/CT/US/everything else)
